I'm interested in basic science relevant for the human society. My recent interests are: interfacial phenomena relevant for sustainable energy solutions such as photoelectrochemcal hydrogen production, carbon aerogel for supercapacitor, etc; ultrafast physics, Warm Density Matter, high pressure physics, where the strong external purtabation may or may not lead to deviation from thermodynamic equilibrium, or the nature of bonding might be strongly altered, which might lead to discoverly of new sciences. For example, the recent discoverly of incommensulate phase in an elemental solid will be a good example. I also get interested in some subjects that cannot be rationally explained why, which I consider an evidence that the human curiousty is not always explainable. For example, I have studied on an allotrope of boron, ß-Rhombohedral boron, and ran into the problem of Third Law of Thermodynamics (see my recent publication below). There is a Japanese saying: a wandering dog bumps into a bar (dogs are supposed to be smart and it will be quite rare occasion that a dog bumps into a bar), which might represent my research style. I hope you join our group at LLNL and wander around the world of curiousity with me. (Hopefully the "bar" is a good one)
